Headaches and migraines

Headaches very often occur as referred pain from the neck joints. Mobilising the affected joints and improving neck strength are usually very effective in improving these headaches.

New research is showing that headaches and migraines can also often caused by nerve or ‘neural’ issues. In particular the part of the brain called the brainstem has been shown to become ‘sensitised’ or ‘hypersensitive’.

This is the major issue, common to many headache and migraine sufferers and can
be treated.

Our treatment techniques are also effective in reducing brainstem sensitivity in order to treat the cause of migraines. This also improves associated migraine symptoms such as nausea, vomiting and visual disturbance. No matter what your headache presentation is, treating the driver or cause of your problem is the most effective solution.

If your neck is not associated with your headache or migraine this should soon become apparent and we will refer you to your doctor.

Often the cause of this sensitised brainstem is a disorder of your upper neck!
